GRAND BAZAAR

Sultan II. A military school building was built for the first time in order to train Ottoman Army soldiers by a decree issued by Abdülhamid in 1862.

The school was used as a military headquarters and ultimately decided to be turned into a museum in 1964. The renovation works which started in 1966 were completed in 1991 and the museum opened on February 10, 1993. The museum is located in Harbiye near Taksim.

DOLMABAHÇE PALACE

The magnificent and ornate Dolmabahçe Palace clearly shows the influence of European decoration and architecture in the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century. The palace built by Sultan Abdulmecid in 1854 took the place of Topkapi Palace which is the residence of the sultans.
