Sadberk Hanim Museum established by the Vehbi Koc Foundation in 1980, is the first private museum in Turkey and builded in Azaryan Mansion in Sariyer. The name of Sadberk Hanim Museum is taken from Sadberk Hanim who is wife of Vehbi Koc. Once, Sadberk Hanim was a collector. And 20 thousand works were found in this museum which consists of her collections.

Information About Sadberk Hanim Museum

Sadberk Hanim was wife of Vehbi Koc as we said before. An this museum was builded at Azaryan Masion in 1980 in remembrance of her and is the first private museum of Turkey.

Having built at the end of the 19th century, this mansion was bought by the Koc family in 1950. The building, which was used as a summer house until 1978, was later restored and transformed into a museum between 1978 and 1980.

The construction next to the building was also included in the museum area as Sevgi Gönül Binasi because of the growth of the museum collection every year. In the Sevgi Gonul Building belonging to the museum which houses about 20 thousand works, there are archaeological works belonging to ancient civilizations in Anatolia from 6 thousand years ago to the end of Byzantine period.

Azaryan Mansion

Azaryan Mansion also exhibits Islamic Ottoman works, European, Far Eastern and Near Eastern artifacts made for Ottomans and Ottoman-era textiles and clothes.Besides the rich collections in the museum, you can also follow periodical exhibitions and exhibition publications here.Education activities for children are also among the important activities of the Sadberk Hanim Museum. Sadberk Hanim Museum Collection

There are two different concepts you can see at the Sadberk Hanim Museum.In Archeology Section, works belonging to the civilizations from the 6th millennium BC to the end of the Byzantine period are exhibited in a chronological order.

You can examine terracotta pots figurines, ritual symbols, glass artifacts, coins, ornamental items, tablets, sculptures and grave stalagmites in the two-layered area.

In the Turkish – Islamic Works Department, you can see the works of the early Islamic, Seljuk, Ayyubî, Mamluk, Timur and Safevi on the first floor in chronological order. Furthermore the Iznik ceramics collection, silver and tombac works, Chinese porcelain and outstsanding works belong to Ottoman weave are among the things you can see in this section.

Sadberk Hanim Museum Visit Days: Except Wednesday, the museum is open every day of the week and is closed on the first day of January and religious holidays.

Discounted: 7 TL (For those having Museum card and Museum Pass card)

Teacher and Student: 3 TL

Free Entrance: Guides having cockade, Those having ICOM card, 65 year old and older visitors, disabled visitors and 1 accompanying companions with them.
