1- The angel waiting for the Hagia Sophia: One day, when Hagia Sophia’s workers go to eat some, they resign their stuff to a young worker. A little time later, a man comes and says ‘They left the job for so long. You should call them.’ to the young worker. The young worker said ‘I cannot leave their stuff here’ to the man.

When the young worker tells the situation to the workers, the emperor asks some questions about him and believes that mystery man was an angel and sends the young man to another country. Because the emperor wants the angel to protect the Hagia Sophia till the doomsday comes!

2- Talismanic Doors: According to a legend, Hagia Sophia has 361 doors but 101 of them are huge and talismanic. Because whenever these doors are counted, another one comes out.

3- Jesus’ Holy Relics: The imperial, according to a Christian saying, import ‘the cross that Jesus had tightened and the nails that were used’ to and had hid them to Hagia Sophia’s secret part.

The reason why they kept the holy relics in there is that Jesus will come to the Earth after 40 thousand years and descend to Hagia Sophia.

4- Doomsday: It is said that when you enter the south door of the building, Hz. Hızır had written the doomsday to the column in the 3rd line.

5- Demon is in prison in Hagia Sophia: After the conquest of Istanbul, Fatih the conqueror has ordered that Hagia Sophia should be turned into a mosque. He put Akşemsettin in charge. The workers struggled to catch the prayer but the demon gave them anxiety because he didn’t want Hagia Sophia as a mosque. When Akşemsettin understood this situation, he prostrated and pray. God accepted his pray and locked the demon to a stone in Hagia Sophia.

6- The column that staves in by The Virgin’s tears: The crying column in Hagia Sophia was a column in The Virgin’s house. One day, some people said to The Virgin that Jesus was caught and tortured.

The Virgin couldn’t stand this and started to cry. One of the drops melted the column like a nitric acid. While Hagia Sophia was building, the imperial wanted it to be consecrated so the column was built in Hagia Sophia.

Because of that, the stone was like sanctified. People who have wishes, put their finger into that melted hole and make some wishes.

7- The priest who disappeared with Holy Grail: When Istanbul was conquered, a priest was preaching a sermon to Hagia Sophia. The priest didn’t want people to have the Holy Grail so he walked through a door.

But Muslims saw that the priest had walked through that door. When they came to the place when the priest disappeared, they ran into a Wall.

According to the legend, the priest still had been waiting with Holy Grail there. One day, when Istanbul is taken back, the priest will continue preaching the sermon.
